Reception were really excited to find a message in a bottle from some desperate pirates who needed some help this week. We decided to bake some biscuits for them as their Galley had flooded! We all wrote letters back to the pirates offering to help too.

This week, Year 3 enjoyed swimming at Beccles Lido outdoor pool for the first time. It was lots of fun and we are looking forward to future sessions on Tuesdays every week this half term. In Literacy, we continued our work on first person narratives by looking at other explorers such as Captain Scott and Neil Armstrong. We learnt how to ask for different flavours of ice cream in our French lessons. In maths we learnt all about horizontal and vertical lines as we explored 2D and 3D shapes. In Geography we started to explore the climate and weather in the Amazon rainforest. We researched facts and presented our own weather forecasts.

Well done to those members of The Albert Pye and Ravensmere Choir who sang at the Sir John Leman Partnership Awards Ceremony last night. The children sang two songs alongside local primary schools, it was a wonderful opportunity to sing with different children. As always, we were very proud of them.

This week Nursery have enjoyed reading The Hungry Caterpillar, we created a collaborative story map. Following this, we created our own individual story maps. ''Here is my little egg on a leaf. Here is my tiny caterpillar'' ''On Monday he ate one apple. On Tuesday he ate two pears''

Congratulations to all of the children from Albert Pye, Red Oak, Westwood and Grove who took part in the inaugural ALT Mr Adcock Y6 Cricket competition. The children had a great time and although the weather tried its best to ruin It, we managed to complete it. Mr Adcock would’ve loved this event as cricket was his passion and so was coaching/teaching children, he understood that far beyond batting and bowling, these events are the backbone of our local community. Fittingly the Albert Pye teams came 3rd and overall Winners, this would’ve made Mr Adcock happy. Thank you to everyone who organise this event and Thank you to all our parents/carers who came and supported.

Sporting Success Congratulations to Ralphie-jai Y3 who won the U8 shield final with his Kirkley and Pakefield Dragons. Ralphie also received Managers player of season award at his presentation. Football is Ralphies happy place and we are beyond proud of all his hard work towards football. He has also played up age group this season too. Well done Ralphie-Jai on a fantastic year.

Year 4 had an amazing day today at Carlton Marshes! Despite the rainy weather, we took part in some fantastic activities, including bug hunting and a nature walk. Everyone had lots of fun exploring the outdoors and learning about nature.

Fruit of the Week Nectarines are incredibly good for you. They are a nutrient-dense, low-calorie summertime fruit packed with vitamins and antioxidants that support overall wellness. Nectarine is a type of peach. (Prunus persica) The only difference is that peaches have a dominant gene for fuzzy skin, while nectarines have a recessive gene that makes their skin smooth.

In DT this week, Year 2 tasted and reviewed plain, fruit and cheese scones in preparation for when they design and make their own. They decided what makes scones appealing and thought about the type, taste, shape and texture.

Wow—what a fun-packed week Year 4 have had! We kicked things off with a creative literacy hook lesson, where the children designed and made their own pop-up jungles. This was followed by an exciting nutrition workshop, packed with engaging and educational activities that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Later in the week, we welcomed parents for our share session, during which we made some delicious rainbow wraps together. In computing, we began our new topic on Scratch, with the children learning to programme their characters to create different shapes. In maths, we’ve been exploring graphs and charts. We visited the car park to collect real-life data on the number of cars passing our school, recording our findings using tally charts before turning the data into line graphs.

Reception have been thoroughly enjoying learning about pirates this week. We have been hunting for treasure and making our own treasure maps as well as creating our own pirate props.

Year 6 have been learning all about light for Science this week. We made periscopes to explore how light travels and is reflected. We have also been auditioning for our production "Year 6 get swamped."

What an amazing experience the children had yesterday! We were delighted to welcome author James Campbell, who visited and spoke to all pupils from Reception through to Year 6. He shared some of the hilarious stories from his books, gave an insight into what it’s like to be an author, and inspired the children with advice on how they can become writers themselves

Year 5 have had a fabulous first week back at school! We have participated in a debate during our Literacy hook lesson in preparation for balanced arguments, started looking at sculptures by Alberto Giacometti in Art and we have had lots of wonderful visitors to our school this week too! On Monday, we participated in an A Life workshop where we completed a range of tasks around healthy habits. On Tuesday, we invited our adults into school to take part in a fun nutrition share where we made rainbow wraps and on Wednesday, we were visited by the famous children's author James Campbell!

At the start of the week we had great fun learning all about health and wellbeing at the nutrition workshop with 'A life'. Thank you to all the parents that came to the Year 3 Nutrition parent share session. It was great to see everyone working together to make healthy rainbow wraps! We also were very lucky on Thursday to have an hilarious visit from the author James Campbell. This week, we started learning all about the explorer Amelia Earhart as we started a new unit on first person narratives in literacy. In maths we learnt to recognise different angles and we found right angles in our environment. Art sessions began with us exploring how to use a roller for our unit of work on printmaking.

Year 3 have had a very busy week! We enjoyed a visit from the author James Campbell and we found him very funny. We also had our Nutrition Parent Share yesterday and loved making healthy rainbow wraps!
