Awards

We are very proud to have received the following awards, which show our ongoing commitment to providing the very best education here at Albert Pye and Ravensmere.

The Linguamarque Silver Award is a prestigious accreditation awarded to primary schools that demonstrate high-quality, deeply embedded, and effective teaching of modern foreign languages (often French) across the curriculum. It is part of the Linguamarque programme, which helps schools audit their language provision, showing clear progression in language learning from year to year.

Key features of a Silver Linguamarque school include:

  • Embedded Languages: Languages are not just in isolation but are integrated into daily school life, such as in greetings, registration, and daily routines.
  • Curriculum Integration: Active, regular (often daily or hourly) language lessons for Key Stage 2 (KS2) pupils.
  • High Standards: Recognition of good practice, strong pupil progress, and a vibrant, well-planned language curriculum.
  • Cultural Awareness: Encouraging pupils to develop an open approach to other cultures.

The award is evaluated by a Languages Adviser through a visit that includes a learning walk, lesson observations, and a review of the subject leader’s portfolio of evidence.

The Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Mark is a government-led accreditation scheme that rewards schools for their high-level commitment to PE, school sport and competition. A Gold award indicates significant engagement in both internal and inter-school competitions, student leadership, and broad extracurricular sporting opportunities.

Key criteria for achieving the Gold award typically include:

  • Active Participation: Offering at least 2 hours of PE per week and engaging a wide range of students.
  • Competition: High involvement in both intra-school (within school) and inter-school (against other schools) competitions.
  • Leadership & Clubs: Providing leadership opportunities for students (e.g., Sports Leaders) and a variety of extra-curricular clubs.
  • Development: Having provisions for 'Gifted and Talented' students and continued professional development for staff.
