Our Geography work forms part of our termly topics across all year groups. We aim to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

As pupils progress, their growing knowledge about the world should help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills provide the frameworks and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time.

At The Albert Pye Primary School and Ravensmere Infant School Federation we are guided by the National Curriculum for Geography (2014).  Across their time in school, children will study: Our local area, regions in North and South America, Africa, a region in Europe, a polar region, mountains and volcanoes, trade and enterprise and the importance of protecting the environment. However, we have also ensured that the Geography curriculum is right for the children in our school in order to meet their needs and prepare them for their future learning and as adults.
